The idea for this project was born out of the desire to give blind and visually impaired people access to digital art.
That’s why we got together and started the project “Trying something different”. What could people who spend the whole day working with folding boxes, package leaflets and so on do differently? Right, folding boxes
However, these folding boxes do not depict medicine, but rather rare diseases which we briefly describe for blind and visually impaired people. Additionally, we describe the appearance of the folding box (which really wasn’t all that easy) and instead of the otherwise common alternative text, we gave the folding box its own voice.
The text is spoken in both English and German by motivated speakers who have no voice acting experience, but just wanted to “try something different”.
Three folding boxes are planned. We are starting with “Non-24”, a not so rare condition for blind and visually impaired people.
The second folding box of our project describes the condition “Wilson’s Disease”, a rare genetic disorder.
The third folding box of our project describes the condition “Mucormycosis”, a rare fungal infection caused by mold.
These folding boxes are one of a kind and registered as NFTs.
